Gavin Lux launched his first home run of the season for the Dodgers, who have won 13 of 15. They’ve gone deep 14 times in their past four games. Yamamoto shook off a first-pitch home run to win his third consecutive start. The $325 million rookie from Japan allowed two runs and five hits in his longest major league outing. Jazz Chisholm Jr. hit a leadoff homer for the Marlins, who fell to 1-4 on their six-game trip. Bryan De La Cruz also went deep.

Brandon Nimmo hit a three-run homer to spark a six-run fifth inning, and the New York Mets rallied to beat the St. Louis Cardinals 7-5. The Cardinals not only dropped their fourth straight game, but also lost catcher Willson Contreras to a broken left forearm in the second inning after he was hit by J.D. Martinez’s swing. Contreras, a three-time All-Star, is hitting .280 with a team-leading six home runs. José Buttó allowed three runs in five innings as the Mets won their second consecutive game. All three runs he permitted came in the first, but Buttó retired nine of his last 10 batters.

The San Francisco Giants were scuffling coming into Colorado, but they hope they are starting to turn things around, beginning with a 5-0 win over the Rockies in the opener of a three-game series on Tuesday night. The Giants will try for a second straight victory when the teams reconvene in Denver on Wednesday night. San Francisco will send Jordan Hicks (2-1, 1.89 ERA) against Colorado's Peter Lambert (2-1, 5.66) in a matchup of right-handers. Hicks will make his eighth appearance against the Rockies and his first career start against them.

The Atlanta Braves will send left-hander Chris Sale to the mound to face his former team on Wednesday in the finale of a two-game series against the visiting Boston Red Sox. Sale (4-1, 3.44 ERA) will be opposed by Boston right-hander Nick Pivetta (1-1, 0.82), who will be activated from the injured list to make his first start since April 3. Atlanta won the series opener 4-2 following a two-run rally in the eighth inning on Tuesday. The victory ended the Braves' three-game losing streak and handed the Red Sox their fourth loss in five games.

Arozarena, a hero in a ninth-inning rally against the New York Mets on Sunday, homered for the third time in five games on Tuesday. "We've got to keep using them to the 162nd game," Arozarena said.

New York Yankees right fielder Juan Soto produced his fourth three-hit game this season on Tuesday, but after carrying the club offensively in the opening weeks, Soto has of late received ample help. The Yankees routed the visiting Houston Astros 10-3 in the opener of a three-game series that continues Wednesday, with Soto playing a supporting role in the dismantling. Anthony Volpe also homered and produced three RBIs. "It takes every single guy to win a ballgame," said Soto, who finished 3-for-4.

The Washington Nationals enter their game against the visiting Baltimore Orioles on Wednesday evening in unfamiliar territory. After taking the opener of their two-game series 3-0 on Tuesday night, the Nationals (18-17) are above .500 for the first time since a victory on July 1, 2021. The Nationals have won eight of their past 11 games and, after three failed attempts, they won the game that gave them a winning record. "We're playing tremendous baseball right now," said Trevor Williams, who outdueled Orioles ace Corbin Burnes in the win on Tuesday.
