5/03/07Jimmy Rollins extended his hitting streak to 6 games with a 2-4 night versus Atlanta. Included in the 2 hits were a single and a double. Rollins is 11-28 in the last 6 games and is sporting a .308 batting average.

4/28/07Jimmy Rollins did it again. Rollins delivered his 9th HR of the season to tie the game in bottom of the 8th. The 9 HR's is the most by a leadoff hitter to start the season since 1996. Rollins was 2-5 on the night and is now batting .289 for the season.
4/26/07Jimmy Rollins continues to do it all. Rollins was 1-4 with his NL Leading 8th HR of the season, 2 RBI's, 3 runs scored and a stolen base. The eight HR's is the most Rollins has hit in any month.
4/24/07Jimmy Rollins is on fire and the club is starting to follow. Rollins lead off the Phillies first with a HR, his NL leading 7th, and just kept hitting. Rollins was 4-5 and missed the cycle by a double and is now hitting .313 this year.
4/19/07Jimmy Rollins cooled down last night at Washington. Rollins took the collar going 0-6 with 4 runners left on base to drop his average to .293 on the year.
4/18/07This is getting ridiculous...Rollins may be the hottest player in the NL. Rollins was 3-5 versus the Mets on Tuesday giving him hits in his last 5 games. Rollins is now batting .327 on the season and still leads the NL in homeruns with 6.
4/15/07Forget the small streak...Jimmy Rollins is carrying the team on his back. Rollins was 2-6 on Saturday with his NL leading 6th homerun and two more rbi's. Rollins is now batting .298 on the season and is trying his best to back up his spring training words that the Phillies are the team to beat.
4/14/07Jimmy Rollins is on a small streak. Rollins went 2-5 last night with a run and is 5-15 in the last three games to boost his average to .293 on the season. Rollins is one of only 3 regulars doing their job at the plate.
4/13/07This is what you get with Jimmy Rollins. One day after going 1-6, Rollins leads off the game with a HR and later connects again for his 5th on the season. Rollins ended up going 2-4 with 2 HR's, 3 RBI's and now has his average back up to .278 on the season.
4/12/07Just like the rest of the team, Rollins bat has gone cold. Yesterday at Shea Stadium, Jimmy was 1-6 with the lone hit a triple. Rollins is now batting .250 on the season and that is not what you want from your leadoff hitter.
4/08/07You just can't say enough about Jimmy Rollins. Jimmy went 2-4 versus Florida with a double and an inside the park three-run homerun. Rollins now has a .350 average on the season and is showing good plate discipline without losing his power stroke. Maybe a switch to the 5-hole behind Howard will come next?
4/06/07Jimmy Rollins continues to get on base. Yesterday in the series finale, Rollins was 2-4 and now sports a .364 average to start the season. Look for Rollins to hover around the .300 mark all season but for the power numbers to decrease slightly.
4/03/07Jimmy Rollins was in the leadoff spot again to start the season but it did not help. Rollins struck out 3 times on pitches down and in that were nearly unhittable...not what you want from your leadoff hitter. On the day Rollins was 2-5 with a HR, RBI and run scored.
3/29/07Jimmy Rollins is hot and hopefully it will carry over to the regular season. Rollins was 2-2 yesterday with a run scored. While his power numbers are down this spring, his average, runs scored and stolen bases are up...that is a true leadoff hitter. On the spring Rollins is hitting .386 with 5 stolen bases.
3/26/07Jimmy Rollins is ready to roll. Rollins batted leadoff, was 2-3 with a single and a double and scored a run. Rollins has been mentioned as protection behind Howard in the five hole, but he will enter the season as the leadoff hitter.
3/22/07Jimmy Rollins is focused and ready to start the season. Rollins did not hit leadoff last night but still went 3-4 with 2 runs scored. Rollins is 13-38 and has 4 SB's on the season.
3/18/07Jimmy Rollins is rounding into regular season shape. Rollins batted leadoff and was 1-3 versus the Yankees on Saturday. On the spring Rollins is 8-28 with 8 runs scored and 3 stolen bases.
2/20/07When asked if Jimmy Rollins might be the best protection in the lineup for Ryan Howard, manager Charlie Manuel said, "No no no". Rollins does have the numbers to bat fifth, but there is nobody else that could leadoff like Jimmy. Shane Victorino, the other leadoff possibility, is still learing the game. Rollins put up his best power numbers for his career with 25 HR's and 83 RBI's but he also stole 36 bases and scored 127 runs. The last two set of numbers will keep Rollins #1 in the lineup for a long time.
9/28/06Jimmy Rollins is trying to hit the Phillies into the playoffs all by himself. Rollins was 3-8 and hit the go-ahead 2-run triple in the 14th to lead the Phillies to victory and remain 1 game back in the wildcard hunt. Rollins ended the night with 4 RBI's, adding to his career high which stands at 82 and counting.
9/26/06Jimmy Rollins must think he is Ryan Howard. Rollins went deep again last night to add to his career high in HR's and RBI's. Rollins put another 2-5 game in the books with his 25th HR and RBI's number 77 & 78. That is now 56 HR's from the double-play combo of Rollins and Utley...pretty impressive!
9/25/06Jimmy Rollins did it again...another HR to add to his career best. Rollins belted a 2-run shot in the third during the Phillies 7-run inning. Rollins was 3-5 on the day with his 24th HR and 2 RBI's giving him 76, also a career high. With the three hits, Rollins improved his average to .279 on the year.
9/24/06Jimmy Rollins continues to flex his muscles belting another HR in the Phillies victory. Rollins has now established career highs in HR's (23) and RBI's (74) and has the franchise mark for HR's by a shortstop. On the day, Rollins was 2-5 and is batting .276 on the year.
9/20/06Jimmy Rollins put another 2-5 game in the books with a little thunder and lightning. In the first inning, Rollins stole his 20th consecutive base without getting caught (36 overall) and later in the 8th he homered for the 22nd time this year. With the HR, Rollins tied his career high in RBI's with 73.
9/18/06Jimmy Rollins continues to hit HR's as he added to his career high with #21. Rollins also added a run batted in as he inched closer to a new career high in RBI's. Rollins is batting .274 on the season and while that is low for a leadoff hitter, Rollins is putting up some solid offensive numbers.
9/17/06As Jimmy Rollins goes, so go the Phillies. Rollins again helped sparked the Phillies to victory going 1-4 with 2 RBI's and a run scored. Rollins already has a career high in homeruns and is 3 shy of setting a career high in RBI's. And oh, by the way, Rollins has 35 stolen bases too.
9/14/06Jimmy Rollins was the spark the Phillies needed. Rollins went 4-8 with a HR, 2 RBI's and 3 runs scored to help the Phillies sweep a doubleheader in Atlanta. The HR was the 20th for Rollins and gave the Phillies their first double-play combo in team history with 20 or more HR's...Chase Utley has 28 on the season.
9/07/06Jimmy Rollins continues to hit and now finds himself with a 5-game hitting streak. Rollins is 7-20 during the streak with 6 RBI's, 2 runs scored and 2 stolen bases while continuing to keep his average at a respectable .281 on the season. Rollins is one of the top 10 shortstops in ML baseball and with a better average, could move into the top 5.
9/01/06Jimmy Rollins continues to hit as he lined 3 singles in the game to raise his average to .281 on the season. Rollins is 10-30 in his last 6 games with 6 runs scored and 2 stolen bases.
8/24/06Jimmy Rollins picked a great time to get his first hit of the game. In the ninth and with 2 outs and runners on first and second, Rollins lined a single to right center to plate the go-ahead and eventual winning run. Rollins ended the night 1-3 with 2 walks and is now batting .279 on the season.
8/23/06Maybe the Phillies are reading my blurbs. Rollins was moved to third in the lineup to give Chase Utley a day off after his collision with Aaron Rowand and to allow Shane Victorino to bat leadoff. The results, Rollins batted 1-5 with a RBI triple and a run scored. Rollins will move back to leadoff when Utley comes back but needs to put the ball in play more hitting in the leadoff spot.
8/22/06Jimmy Rollins might want to think about batting cleanup. Rollins hit another homerun, his 19th, adding to his career best in a season and was 3-5 at the plate. Rollins is now batting .280 on the season and is getting hot at the right time for the Phillies.
8/20/06After three games of zero hits, Jimmy Rollins got back in the groove with a 3-5 game. Rollins also contributed a RBI and 2 runs scored. In the month of August, Rollins is 29-82, batting .354 with 6 HR's, 18 RBI's, 5 SB's and has raised his average from .265 to .276 on the season.
8/16/06Rollins had his sixth multi-hit game in a row to help the Phillies to their 2nd consecutive rout of the NY Mets. Rollins was 2-4 with another RBI and run scored and now has his average at .280 on the year.
8/15/06Rollins is still not hitting like a leadoff hitter but he is very hot right now and is raising his average too. Rollins was 3-3 with a HR, 3 RBI's, 3 runs scored and a stolen base to help the Phillies rout the NY Mets 13-0. Rollins has had 2 or more hits in his last 5 games and is 13-24 with 4 HR's and 10 RBI's in those 5 games.
8/13/06Jimmy Rollins is hitting but not the way you would expect from a leadoff hitter. Rollins had 2 more HR's in 4 at bats while driving in 4 and scoring 3 runs. Rollins has already surpassed his career high in HR's and just keeps adding to the total now. If Rollins wants to keep flexing his muscles, maybe the Phillies should move him to the #2 hole and allow Shane Victorino to leadoff.
8/03/06Jimmy Rollins had another big night. Rollins was 3-5 with 2 HR's, one of which lead off the game, four RBI's and a career-high 5 runs scored. Jimmy Rollins has tied his season high in HR's at 14 and he also holds the current team record for consecutive games with a hit at 38.
7/30/06Jimmy Rollins missed his third straight game with a strained right hamstring. In his absence, Abraham Nunez and recent call-up Danny Sandoval have filled in.
7/22/06Jimmy Rollins had another huge game for the Phillies. Rollins was 4-5 with a key game tying homerun with a run scored. It was Rollins hit in the 8th with two outs that allowed Utley another chance to extend his hitting streak. Rollins is starting to get that spark all leadoff hitters need to help their team.
7/19/06Jimmy Rollins had another nice game as he doubled twice and homered, his 10th on the season. Rollins is now 4 away from tying his career high in homeruns at 14. It is nice that Rollins has some pop in his bat but for a leadoff hitter, Rollins needs to put the ball in play more and use his speed. Rollins is still considered a top 10 fantasy shortstop.
6/27/06Jimmy Rollins continues to put the ball in play like a leadoff hitter should. Rollins had three hits and knocked in four with a single, double and triple. Rollins also stole his team leading 17th base on the season. Keep Rollins active in all formats as he is still one of the top 10 shortstops in baseball.
6/22/06Jimmy Rollins was about the only bright spot in a poor offensive outing by the Phillies. Rollins had 2 of the teams 3 hits and stole his 16th base of the season. This was a nice game for Rollins but he needs to do this on a more consistent basis, especially being the teams leadoff hitter.
6/14/06Jimmy Rollins was 2-4 last night with 2 HR's and 2 RBI's but it was not enough as the Phillies lost 9-7. Rollins HR in the first extended his franchise record of leadoff HR's to 16. It is nice that Jimmy can hit the longball occasionally but that is really not what you want from a leadoff hitter. Stick to hitting line drives and watch your average go up Jimmy!
6/03/06Jimmy Rollins is beginning to show signs of returning to the form of a leadoff hitter. Rollins has seven hits, 5 runs and 4 SB's in his last 6 games. Although the average is still below normal, Rollins should have plenty of hits left this year and will get the batting average back over .275 for the season.
5/28/06Jimmy Rollins, back in the leadoff spot, provided plenty of spark. Rollins went 3-5 with a HR, his 5th, and a couple RBI's. With Aaron Rowand back in CF and Shane Victorino on the bench, Rollins will be needed at the top of the lineup to get on base. With Utley, Abreu, Burrell and Howard behind him, Rollins should have little trouble scoring runs...he just needs to get on.
5/10/06Jimmy Rollins continues to provide a spark at the top of the lineup. In the last six games, Rollins has at least 1 hit, going 7-23 in that span with 4 RBI's and 2 SB's. Additionally, Rollins provides steady defense in the field.
4/14/06Jimmy Rollins led off the game with a "no doubt about it" HR and later doubled. The HR was Rollins 14th to lead off a game and ties him with Juan Samuel for the Phillies record. Rollins is currently batting .395 and has stayed hot since losing his 38 game hitting streak. He is showing more plate discipline and is the top NL shortstop.
4/06/06Jimmy Rollins extended his hitting streak to 38 games with a leadoff double in the bottom of the first. Rollins then doubled in his next at bat to give him three doubles in three at bats. In addition to the HR, JRoll tripled, walked, scored two runs and helped the Phillies beat the Reds 6-3. With their victory, the Phillies have closed the gap in the wildcard to 1 game. Jimmy Rollins is really finishing the season strong and should be a top 2 shortstop next year in NL only leagues.

5/07/04Rollins sat on the bench yesterday, the Phillies aren't satisfied with his effort. He's been turning down bunt signals and has lacked spirit on the bases. "If you're asking me, 'Is Jimmy our shortstop?' - yes, Jimmy's the shortstop," manager Larry Bowa said. "But Jimmy's got to do a little bit better than he's doing."
5/01/04Talk about a poor sart, 13 hits in 71 at-bats 5 runs scored and the on-base average of .263 is awesome in it's terribleness. He was once a lead-off hitter.
4/22/04Manager Bowa bumped Rollins from leadoff to eighth in the batting order yesterday. "He pretty much gave me a warning," Rollins said. Rollins is hitting just .125 on the season. "I'm not getting my front foot down in time," he said. "When you're late you're not going to see the ball, and you're making late decisions."
4/14/04Rollins will be taking over as the new leadoff hitter.
3/03/04Having abandoned his pursuit of line drives, Rollins wants to show a willingness to drop bunts for base hits all year - perhaps as many as 30 times - and he can't wait to practice the technique this spring.

7/20/02Rollins took batting practice yesterday afternoon, then took himself out of the starting lineup. The shortstop has been bothered by a sore left thumb since last Saturday, when he collided with Mike Piazza while making a tag at second base. It's sore when he hits righthanded.

5/22/02Rollins has homered three times in the Phillies' last four games. 2000Rollins is a solid prospect and may be given a good chance at winning the shortstop job in Philadelphia in 2001. He has good speed and an excellent eye at the plate.
