year.

| 6/24/03 | It appears Cora's opportunity to become an everyday player this season has ended as his long
batting slump continues. Tracy last month said he would consider using the left-handed batter
more often against left-handed pitchers, but that was before Cora's six-for-47 slump, including
one for 17 on the previous homestand.
|

|
| 8/28/02 | Cora was released from the hospital Tuesday morning. He was back in uniform Tuesday
afternoon and took early batting practice, but he did have a headache. Doctors will monitor
Cora closely over the next few days, and when he feels right, he'll resume running and lifting
weights. Though Cora expects to return this weekend, team physician Dr. Michael Mellman
admitted Cora could be out "for days, weeks, or months. You never know with a concussion."

| 8/15/02 | Cora, who has put in long hours with batting instructor Jack Clark in an effort to adjust his
approach, had three hits, an RBI and a run in Wednesday night's 5-2 victory over the Expos,
lifting his average to .299. Cora has provided consistent offense hitting in front of the pitcher
this month. |
| 8/04/02 | Alex Cora started at shortstop Saturday and continued to deliver in an impressive season, getting a run-scoring double. Manager Jim Tracy plans to use Cora more down the stretch, cutting into the playing time of middle infielders Cesar Izturis and Mark Grudzielanek. |
| 7/08/02 | The reserve infielder has contributed in pinch-hitting and spot-starting roles, batting .298 with two homers and 11 runs batted in, and his first-half performance, combined with the struggles of second baseman Mark Grudzielanek and shortstop Cesar Izturis, will net Cora more playing time in the second half, Manager Jim Tracy said Sunday.
|
| 6/27/02 | Cora started against the Rockies on Wednesday night, but Tracy insisted that Grudzielanek
would play tonight against Colorado and this weekend against the Angels, and that he wasn't
moving toward a time share at second base with Cora, who bats left-handed, and Grudzielanek,
who bats right-handed. Cora went 0 for 3 to drop his average to .307.
|
| 6/24/02 | Reserve infielder Alex Cora, who bats lefthanded, is hitting .324 and has played very well at second base, and he may soon force the Dodgers to employ more of a platoon at the position with the right-handed Grudzielanek, according to the L.A. Times. |
