2/05/25 | Blue Jays 'likely' to lose bidding war for projected $75 million slugger to Mets. It's been a strong offseason for the Toronto Blue Jays, but the jury is still out on whether or not they can be playoff contenders. 2/04/25 | Most of the cast returns as Phillies try to walk roster tightrope in '25. The 2025 season for the Phillies is somewhat of a bridge year — they are still contenders with one of the best rosters in baseball, but it was a mostly quiet offseason because of their financial situation and the players they hope to incorporate in the near future. 1/30/25 | Phillies Lose Another Relief Pitcher in Free Agency. The 32 year old is coming off the best season of his pro career, tallying a 2.45 ERA with the Angels and Phillies in 2024. The Phils have now lost two of their top three relievers from 2024 to free agency. 1/25/25 | Philadelphia Phillies Young Star Not Feeling Pressure About Increased Role. It became clear the Philadelphia Phillies weren't going to bring back Jeff Hoffman or Carlos Estevez. With both players hitting the open market after two straight seasons of delivering elite results out of the bullpen, the front office knew it would be tough to retain both of them based on the amount of money they were projected to receive. Hoffman was the first to find a new home, signing a multi-year contract with the Toronto Blue Jays that officially ended his tenure with the team that resurrected his career. Estevez is still on the open market, and even though there was some thought the Phillies might bring him back since they don't have a clearcut closer on their roster right now, it's looking more and more likely he'll also depart with his market beginning to heat up. 1/24/25 | Red Sox Could Get Creative With This All-Star Pitching Idea. The Boston Red Sox remain in need of one more quality arm to add to their bullpen entering the 2025 season. The market got raided recently with names such as Jeff Hoffman and Tanner Scott coming off the market in January. What if the best way forward for an aging starter and former Cy Young contender is to do so as a reliever or even as a closer? Source: https://nesn.com/2025/01/red-sox-could-get-creativ... |
