9/14/07Spiezio is ready to return from the restricted list, but needs approval from MLB. "I think if they're sufficiently convinced that he's completed what he needs to complete, then he should be eligible for reinstatement," GM Walt Jocketty said. "We have not heard anything from Major League Baseball. They have to reinstate him. So we have to actually wait for them to get back to us."
9/13/07Spiezio has been working out at the ballpark, but the team is still unclear when he will return to action.
9/06/07Manager Tony LaRussa hasn't spoken with Spiezio since he went on the restricted list last month and doesn't expect to have him back this season. "The thing we are prioritizing is his private life," La Russa said. "And then if there are some professional opportunities before the season is over, we're all for it. We want to make sure he takes care of his personal stuff. I think it's still possible you could see him before the season's over."
8/10/07Spiezio was placed on the restricted list with an apparent substance abuse problem.
7/03/07Scott Spiezio has now missed 5 games after being hospitalized for three days last week with an infected left index finger. He has said that he is ready to go but had cooled off before the injury and remains useful only as a reserve in the deepest of NL only leagues.

4/07/07Spiezio may return to action today as he continues to recover from a sore back.
3/17/07Spiezio has seen increased playing time in right field this spring. He may continue to see playing time there and may even start the season there until Juan Encarnacion is healthy enough to play.

4/25/01Spiezio could see an increased amount of playing time thanks to the injury to Glenallen Hill.

1/24/01Spiezio will be in the hunt for the first base job in Anaheim, or at least a part of it, no matter what free agent is brought in.
