Ladies and Gentleman,
We're in possibly the greatest sports week of the year with the start of baseball, the Masters and the NCAA Championship; speaking of which...
Did you think it would be a ONE POINT game at the end of the first half!? I did. Unfortunately, I conceded my bracket and prize with just over 2 minutes left and was SHOCKED! Who would've thought I needed BUTLER to win in order to take my office pool?! I guess coming in 2nd with a Duke win isn't anything to cry about. Overall, very exciting tournament, championship game and great start to this week! Nicely done NCAA...please don't expand.
In addition to the conclusion of the NCAA tournament and March Madness, we finally get a real press conference from Tiger Woods (sort of). While the previous talks have been bogus with the unnecessary apologies and self-pity BS, this one was a bit different. So we think...Joslyn James seems to disagree...
As her former lover, Tiger Woods, delivered a press conference at Augusta National in advance of his return to professional golf this week at the Masters, adult film star Joslyn James was in New York.
James watched the sullied golfer on a television in the Ed Sullivan room on the third floor of the Friars Club, on East 57th Street in Manhattan.
She was not impressed. "A big malarkey," James pronounced at the start of her own press conference, immediately following Tiger's.
So now what? Can America grow up, mind their own business and stop being prude? Doubtful. Tiger did nothing wrong in my opinion (besides get married). Leave the guy alone and lets focus on The Masters!
On to things more important and relevant to us; the beginning of the 2010 season. This time of the year is extremely significant and exciting...with the spring comes the warm weather, gateway to summer and 'new beginnings'. Whether its the motivation needed to get outside and run or gearing up to finally make the fantasy baseball playoffs, spring is encouraging in many ways.
Sunday night we watched the Yankee bullpen get beat up which is always fun for a YH (Yankee Hater) like myself. To make matters even better was the convincing Mets win over the fish. It was nice to see Johan back in form following by a strong performance by Jonathon Niese and K-Rod getting some work in. Unfortunately, I couldn't be too comfortable with the win as I saw the Phillies score from the corner of my eye. More impressive than the blowout was Roy Halladay's stats! 7IP, 6H, 1ER, 2BB and 9K...this can be indicative of what we all believed...hopefully not.
Other lopsided games we saw on Monday were the Braves destroying the Cubs, St. Louis over Cincinnati and Morales getting a save day 1 in Colorado's 5-3 win over the Brew Crew.
So I'm having so much fun with these articles and TG Fantasy Baseball, I decided to report for the Marlins. While it's only week 1, I did learn that historically, Josh Johnson has matched up nicely against the Mets. In fact, he has never lost to his division rival. For his career, Johnson is 7-0 with a 2.30 ERA against New York. In 2009, the 6-foot-7 right-hander was 3-0 with a 2.89 ERA. Reporting this just before opening day of already a doubtful team made for a nice surprise on Opening Day. I mentioned it twice so the 2 or 3 of you who are still reading can tell..I am stoked with the Mets 1-0 record. On to game two and our 2nd number 5 starter...John Maine.
This week, I made a few adjustments to my lineup. I picked up Pudge as I didn't want to risk losing starts over Iannetta's situation with Miguel Olivo, I also picked up Rauch from the Twins and dropped Chris Tillman and Madson. So far it looks like the Pudge move was a good one as he went 3-4 with a double while Iannetta went 0-2 with 2 walks. As its going, this week looks like a big loss for me...I had 6 starts with 1 closer while my opponent had 9 starts with 2 closers...below are the lineups and I'm down HUGE!
