9/05/25 Texas Rangers catch a break with upcoming Astros pitching in pivotal series. The Rangers may have gotten one in from the Astros' rotation manipulation. After the Astros lost right-hander Spencer Arrighetti to an elbow injury earlier in the week, they had the ability to move Valdez into the Sunday series finale. Valdez is 9-3 with a 2.27 ERA against the Rangers since 2020 and the Astros have won his last four starts against Texas.

9/03/25 Astros place Arrighetti on the 15-day injured list because of inflammation in his right elbow. The Astros placed right-hander Spencer Arrighetti on the 15-day injured list because of inflammation in his right elbow before their game Wednesday night against the New York Yankees. Arrighetti was coming off two of his better starts this season, allowing one run on one hit and five walks with eight strikeouts in 6 1/3 innings against the Angels on Aug. 30 after he surrendered two runs over 5 2/3 innings at the Orioles on Aug. 24. Arrighetti is 1-5 with a 5.35 ERA over seven starts this season.

9/02/25 Astros' pitching getting stronger heading into series with Yankees. The Houston Astros waited the bulk of this season for three members of their starting rotation to rejoin their ranks. The third member of that trio -- right-hander Luis Garcia -- did so on Monday in the finale of a four-game wraparound series against the Los Angeles Angels. Spencer Arrighetti and Cristian Javier had combined to allow one run on one hit over 12 1/3 innings in the first two games of the Angels series. Garcia then excelled in the finale and surrendered three runs on three hits with six strikeouts over six innings in an 8-3 victory.

8/24/25 Henderson, Vázquez and Rogers power Orioles to a 3-2 win over the Astros. Rogers (7-2) allowed five hits and three walks and struck out nine. Hoyt Wilhelm set the club record with a 1.50 ERA in 1959, and was followed by Jim Palmer's 1.55 ERA in 1975. Henderson hit his 16th homer, a solo shot off Spencer Arrighetti (1-5) in the first, to give Baltimore the lead. Ryan Mountcastle had an RBI single in the sixth and Vázquez made it 3-1 in the seventh with his first big league homer.

8/19/25 Astros Ace in Pitching Duel of the Year Against Tigers Superstar Tarik Skubal. The Houston Astros are going to be involved in one of the marquee pitching duels of the season on Tuesday night when they try to avenge their series opening loss against the Detroit Tigers. On Monday night, the Astros were bludgeoned 10-0 in a game where nothing seemed to go right. In an ugly start from Spencer Arrighetti -- which saw him allow seven hits and five runs in five innings -- and an even uglier relief appearance from Tayler Scott, nothing seemed to go right. Houston managed just five hits in the shutout and were embarrassed at Comerica Park.

7/28/25 Houston Astros GM Offers Encouraging Injury Update on Spencer Arrighetti. Although they were just swept at home against the A's, the Houston Astros sit atop the American League West with a 60-46 record, four games ahead of the Seattle Mariners and Texas Rangers. Although this is more of the same from Houston, it's also rather impressive given the injuries the team is going through right now. The names on the shelf for the Astros include regulars such as Spencer Arrighetti, Ronel Blanco, Cristian Javier, Yordan Alvarez, Jeremy Pena and more.

6/27/25 Astros Ace Has Been the Most Clutch Pitcher in Baseball This Season. One of the major reasons that the Houston Astros have found as much success during the 2025 MLB regular season as they have is because of their pitching staff. Despite having more than an entire starting rotation on the injured list, including Spencer Arrighetti, Hayden Wesneski and Ronel Blanco, who were all on the Opening Day roster, the team has found a way to keep chugging along. One of the players anchoring the starting rotation has been ace, Framber Valdez.

6/25/25 Astros listed as trade suitor for $21.05 million World Series hero. The Houston Astros are leading the American League West at 46-33. Spencer Arrighetti, Lance McCullers Jr. and Cristian Javier could be back soon, but Ronel Blanco and Hayden Wesneski are out for the season.

6/23/25 Could Astros Make Play for Key White Sox Outfielder Ahead of Deadline?. The Houston Astros have been upfront about what they are targeting ahead of the deadline. While starting pitching seems to be a must despite the returns of Spencer Arrighetti, Cristian Javier and Luis Garcia seemingly imminent in the second half of the season, it's hard to know what they are going to get from that trio after their extended absences. Right now, with Yordan Alvarez on the injured list and his timetable for return unknown, the Astros only have the switch-hitting Victor Caratini as an option off the bench since their top prospect Jacob Melton was placed on the IL shortly after he debuted.

6/23/25 Injured Astros Pitcher Takes Important Step Toward Return. The Houston Astros have a number of injured pitchers right now, but one of them is taking a huge step in his return from injury. During the team's Sunday pregame radio show, Astros general manager Dana Brown announced that starting pitcher Spencer Arrighetti would be able to throw his first off the mound side sessions this Tuesday per Matt Kawahara of the Houston Chronicle. Arrighetti has made just two starts in 2025 and thrown just 9.2 innings before dealing with a thumb injury that landed him on the injured list. The 25-year-old got a chance last year pretty much out of necessity, but Houston ended up finding a promising backend starter.
