8/12/25	Nationals Want To See This From Dylan Crews Before Activating Him Off Injured List. Coming into the year, the Washington Nationals had high hopes for many of their young players. While the overall results on the field for the team haven't been great, the development of their potential franchise cornerstones have been, with CJ Abrams becoming an All-Star last year and James Wood and MacKenzie Gore being selected this season. Projected to be in the NL Rookie of the Year race, the former second overall pick in the 2023 draft had not performed to that level with a .196/.266/.354 slash line before going on the injured list on May 21 with a left oblique strain. Crews hasn't played in a Major League game since then, but he has gotten some extensive time with Triple-A Rochester during his rehab assignment that began on July 29. WASHINGTON (AP) — CJ Abrams singled home rookie Robert Hassell III with the winning run in the ninth inning, and the Washington Nationals defeated the Athletics 2-1 on Wednesday night to stop a six-game losing streak. Athletics starter Jeffrey Springs retired his first 15 batters before Riley Adams tied the score 1-all with a leadoff homer in the sixth. Hassell doubled off Michael Kelly (2-1) to begin the ninth and scored on Adams' one-out single when left fielder Tyler Soderstrom's throw was off line. Soderstrom opened the top of the sixth with his 20th home run. The second half of the 2025 MLB season has been going just about as poorly for the Washington Nationals as the first half went, with the team continuing to struggle in pretty much every facet of the game. There's a real argument to be made that things have actually been worse for the Nationals following the All-Star break, and this is mainly because the few productive offensive pieces the team had been relying on have all gone cold at the same time. 7/27/25	Twins' bullpen struggles against Nationals with trade deadline looming. This year's trade deadline continues to loom over the Twins, and another 7-2 blowout loss to the Nationals on Sunday might've answered what their strategy should be before Thursday. Nationals shortstop CJ Abrams took Cole Sands deep for a lead-off home run and the Twins were never able to take the lead. Matt Walner launched a 452-foot home run in the second inning, and Trevor Larnach drove in a run in the third to even the game at two, but Washington proceeded to add five unanswered runs on the scoreboard. CJ Abrams had a three-run double against Minnesota All-Star Joe Ryan, Alex Call homered and drove in three runs and Luis García Jr. also went deep as the Washington Nationals beat the Twins 9-3 on Saturday night. Prior to last night's game against the San Diego Padres there had only been two players in the Washington Nationals history to record 100-stolen bases in a Nats uniform, now there are three. In a win against the Padres, shortstop CJ Abrams stole his 100th base in the sixth inning joining Trea Turner (192) and Ian Desmond (122) according to Nationals Communications. Abrams stepped up to hit five times and he ended up with two doubles, a home run and was hit by a pitch. Since 2023, he has gotten on base four or more times in a single game a total of 14 times.
