9/02/25 Royals Breakout Starter Named Team's Top Rookie. The Kansas City Royals have remained in the American League Wild Card hunt despite hitting a few rough patches earlier this season. At 70-67, they are just 2 1/2 games behind the Seattle Mariners for the final spot, though the red-hot Texas Rangers have overtaken them in the standings. Kansas City is shooting for two straight years in the postseason after winning 86 games in 2024 and taking the second Wild Card spot. Maikel Garcia was an All-Star for the first time, and left-hander Noah Cameron has emerged as one of their top starting pitchers.

8/24/25 Royals Urged To Protect Top Catching Prospect From Rule 5 Draft. The Kansas City Royals have played much better baseball as of late and have found their way back into postseason contention. At 66-64, they are only three games back of the third and final American League Wild Card spot. Players such as Maikel Garcia, Kris Bubic and Noah Cameron have been revelations this season. Catcher Carter Jensen has performed well in Triple-A Omaha, but he may not be safe from the Rule 5 Draft.

8/22/25 Royals Writer Calls For KC To Make Long-Term Maikel Garcia Decision. Maikel Garcia is the third baseman of the present and future for the Kansas City Royals. Coming into the season, it wasn't guaranteed that Garcia would last the full season in the Royals' starting lineup. It's only Garcia's second full season in the league, so he's under team control through 2030, though he'll be eligible for arbitration as a "super two" player at the end of the year. Should the Royals look to lock him in even longer?

7/23/25 Brewers-Royals Trade Idea From ESPN Insider Is Terrible Idea For KC. Maikel Garcia's name has been cropping up in a lot of trade buzz lately, and it just doesn't make much sense. The 25-year-old Garcia has been the breakout position player star of the Kansas City Royals' season. On Wednesday, Jeff Passan of ESPN went as far as to name Garcia as the "best fit" for the Milwaukee Brewers, who share the best record in baseball, out of all potential targets at the trade deadline.

6/24/25 Royals Breakout Star Listed As Team's Most Improved Player. The Kansas City Royals are struggling a bit. Although they are just 2 1/2 games back in the Wild Card race, it is fair to wonder if the Royals are a true contender.
