Injuries have been one of the biggest detractors to the Astros' success over the course of this year, and despite them, the team has managed to pull together and find ways to win games. One of the best depth additions has been outfielder Taylor Trammell, who, despite some inconsistency at the plate, has been spectacular in the field and has provided some level of solidified production. Trammell, 27, batted .293 with two homers and 10 RBIs during a 12-game stint in the minors while recovering from a right calf strain. Purchased from the New York Yankees in November, Trammell has yet to appear in a game with the Astros. The 2016 first-round draft pick is a career .167 hitter with 15 homers and 39 RBIs in 126 games with the Seattle Mariners (2021-23), Los Angeles Dodgers (2024) and Yankees (2024). As if outfield wasn't already discussed enough this offseason, the Houston Astros are now dealing with two injuries in that unit. Taylor Trammell and Pedro Leon have both picked up some leg issues during camp. Leon's situation is much less severe with his ailment being described as "discomfort," so it's Trammell's "pretty significant" calf strain that now has him in a walking boot which shakes up the outlook in the outfield. After being claimed off waivers from the Los Angeles Dodgers early in the season, Trammell appeared in five games for the New York Yankees in 2024. In his limited playing time, he recorded a hit and a walk in his two plate appearances, scoring two runs before being assigned to Triple-A.
