3/11/26	MLB report settles World Series Game 7 plate drama: IKF was out by feet, not inches. The official report from MLB's replay review says a critical play in the Los Angeles Dodgers' wild Game 7 World Series win last year was determined by feet, not inches. Toronto's Isiah Kiner-Falefa was thrown out at home plate in the bottom of the ninth inning on a play that would have won it for the Blue Jays. Catcher Will Smith's foot briefly came off the plate while he caught the ball. Replays showed his foot reconnected with the plate while Kiner-Falefa was inches away. Fans lamented Kiner-Falefa's conservative lead off third base. But MLB's report says Smith's foot was on the plate when he initially caught the ball, while Kiner-Falefa still several feet away. The Toronto Blue Jays welcomed back a familiar face over the weekend, and he's already thinking outside the box to help the team win. Not many fans expected the Blue Jays to claim Isiah Kiner-Falefa off waivers from the Pittsburgh Pirates on Sunday. The utilityman spent last season with the Jays and was traded at the 2024 deadline in a deal that saw prospect Charles McAdoo come back to Toronto. 8/29/25	Pirates place INF Isiah Kiner-Falefa on outright waivers. August 29 - The Pirates placed infielder Isiah Kiner-Falefa on outright waivers on Friday, the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reported. The 30-year-old veteran is batting .268 with 20 doubles, 35 RBIs and 15 stolen bases in 117 games this season. He has started 93 games at shortstop and 22 at third base. Kiner-Falefa is a career .263 hitter with 35 homers, 281 RBIs and 100 steals in 897 games with the Texas Rangers (2018-21), New York Yankees (2022-23), Toronto Blue Jays (2024) and Pirates (2024-25). Kiner-Falefa is in the second year of a two-year, $15 million deal he signed with Toronto before the 2024 season. The Pirates didn't trade infielder Isiah Kiner-Falefa, outfielder Tommy Pham and left-handed starting pitcher Andrew Heaney before the deadline, despite them not having their contracts extend past 2025.
